I knew from a young age that I wanted to help people. My life experiences sparked my interest. My social-maverick parents would regularly move us from towns, states, countries and even continents driven by their values to make the lives of others better. I met and saw people worldwide who suffered because of pain in their lives. Their pain left a strong imprint on my psyche.
It was a fascinating journey that led me to become a Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner®. I studied Humanities with an Arts Degree, exploring social history, arts, life sciences and other subjects of the humanities. I pursued body-mind courses in my spare time, including Shiatsu Massage, meditation, and other body therapies. This led me to further studies of Life Sciences in Anatomy / Physiology and multiple Clinical Massage training in the early 80s. I was finally working with people to alleviate their pain.
Over time I grew unsatisfied with the results I was achieving for my clients because they were not sustainable and long-term. My search began for something different, when I had the opportunity to attend Feldenkrais
I started attending weekly and experienced a profound and specific shift in my body and mind that I had never before known or felt. It was as if I could breathe a deep sigh of relief and let go of years of pushing and staining in my body. Regular aches, pains and fatigue began to disappear. Flexibility, comfort and working endurance increased. It seemed effortless after Feldenkrais. My work became easier.
Studying and practicing the Feldenkrais Method® has completely transformed my relationship with gravity, posture and the environment in which I function. It has honed my awareness to be highly conscious of patterns, subtleties and my ability to directly influence the QUALITY of movements in everyday life.
Moshe Feldenkrais stated that through Feldenkrais, “the aim is a body that is organised to move with minimum effort and maximum efficiency, not through muscular strength but increased consciousness of how it works”. This rings as true for me now as it did over 35 years ago.
If you are a Baby Boomer or Gen-Xer who wants to maintain the highest possible results in active longevity and well-being, and quality of life, think about the following questions?
– Do I have to be in pain when I do the active things I like to do?
– What would it be like to have greater or deeper satisfaction in how you move? Whether it’s training, working, walking, gardening, loving, playing, swimming, standing?
– What is attainable, and what is sustainable?
– Would you like to move with less effort or irritation, have a greater return on the quality of comfort and have an increased feeling of your body “smiling” cause it feels so nice?
This is what working with DonnaRose can do for you.
